Easy Homemade Chocolate Candy Recipe

Thursday, November 12th, 2009
It’s a fact that some people are avowed chocoholics. The hormone serotonin, produced when eating sweets or oily foods and responsible for gastric functions, may be the reason behind this. Idle serotonin will help bring to equilibrium your frame of mind, appetites, and tempers. This may be the reason why some have extremely sunny dispositions or are hyperactive after eating chocolates and has come to rely a regular “fix” to maintain moods.
Research show your intense craving for a chocolate “fix” may not be bad after all. They say your sunny cheer and hyperactiveness is your body’s reaction to the chemical substances, nutrients, and flavors integral to chocolates. Good news is, you can prepare your own chocolate recipe and enjoy your “fix” in the luxury of your own home.
Put together the following: double boiler, mixing bowl, candy molds/baking sheets, rubber spatula, and white/dark chocolates.
Heat the chocolate on medium heat, placing it in the double boiler and stirring constantly with the spatula. Remove the chocolate from the burner once it’s all melted and transfer onto the candy molds or baking sheets to air-dry. If you fancy a fruity treat, coat cut fruits in the liquefied chocolate for that special surprise. If you poured your chocolate into a mold, lightly knock the tray on any surface to remove air bubbles. You can air dry your chocolate candy or set it in the freezer.
Just bear in mind that if you didn’t temper your chocolate candy, it’ll be vulnerable to blooming and not as lustrous as commercially-manufactured ones. Tempering your chocolate candy will ensure that the cocoa butter crystals found in chocolates are spread across and won’t rise to the surface. Tempering is a tough procedure because you have to keep accurate, specific temperatures for particular chocolates all throughout the melting process.
There’s a secret to sweat-free tempering: acquire a chocolate tempering machine and let it do the “dirty” work for you. What’s wonderful about using machines to temper your chocolate candies is the fact that you can create so excellent a quality of chocolate candies that you can even start on a profitable enterprise with them!

Acceptable Vandalism – Graffiti Prints on Canvas

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

The public has had a love/hate relationship with graffiti. On the “good press” side, gifted creatives such as Banksy have made graffiti an artform that is pleasing on the eye, using stencils to create technically tricky graphics with political messages attached. This kind of graffiti was bound to become trendy with both the masses and the likes of The Guardian pressroom : attractive to both eye and intellect. This kind of graffiti is even bought as printed canvas art, and placed in middle class homes and corporate meeting rooms.

Even so, what about the opposite end of the spectrum? – the gangbanger, the tagger, the street urchin – this type of graffiti is frequently seen as vandalism, a crime committed by the untalented. But misinterprets graffiti as strictly an art form. To many people, it’s not only an artform, but a means to mark a district, or even two fingers up at society : anti-establishment, anti-social, even anti-art.

Graffiti has invariably been an underground activity, although the results are very much public facing. The intended audience is often unknown. Is it for a rival gang? A communication to an individual? To the public? Perhaps it’s just uncalled-for and out of nothing else to do.

Whatever the reasons, there appears to be some kind of enduring need to spray graffiti on walls. Some cities have conceded that graffiti isn’t a short-term craze, so they’ve designated areas where graffiti is allowed – normally unoccupied areas, but occasionally busier zones like temporary boarding around inner city construction sites.

Seatbelt Purse – a Major Purse Hunt

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

When my wife told me what she wanted for Christmas I was at a total loss to know what she was talking about. My first thought was that a seatbelt purse would be something that would fasten to her seatbelt so that she could easily have the correct change for toll booths. I was not alone in this misconception as my friends all gave the the look when I asked them if they knew what one was. Now I know that it is a purse made from seatbelt material. It is put together in a woven pattern that actually looks like it could last forever.

In searching for the perfect purse for my wife I have discovered a lot of things. There are leather purses and there are fabric purses. There are purses designed to just hold coins and there are purses big enough to carry enough equipment for an overnight camping trip. I also discovered I had no idea what she wanted when she said she wanted a purse. I looked in her closet to see what she had purschased for herself in the past and that was no help. There were no two alike or even similar enough to give me a clue. Her friends said buy her one that will go with her outfits.
